Dry facial skin
No one asks for dry facial skin and most people think they are doing enough to keep their skin moisturized, but few actually are. Skin to be kept hydrated and moisturized to remain smooth and flawless. Anyone wanting to avoid dry facial skin needs to create and maintain a routine that keeps the skin clean, protected and well hydrated.
Diet is one of the first things to consider when dry facial skin is a problem. Drinking enough water is one way to ensure the skin will remain soft, smooth and supple. At least seven glasses containing eight ounces should be consumed each day. If a diet containing vitamins D and E isn’t possible then supplements are a good idea.
The skin should be cleaned daily with warm water, but hot water directly on the face should be avoided. Use a mild soap with no added perfumes or oils as this can dry facial skin. After dabbing the skin dry sunscreen should be added. Sunscreen protects the face from the drying and aging exposure to the sun can cause.
In the summer use water based moisturizer to guard against dry facial skin as oils can mix with sweat clogging the pores. In winter it is a good idea to use an oil based moisturizer since it will create a layer of protection just above the surface of the skin keeping out the cold and wind.
In the summer to prevent dry facial skin carry a tube of sunscreen in case there is a need to reapply. After swimming or exercising it’s important to gently wash away the pool chemicals and sweat before reapplying more sunscreen and lotion for the dry facial skin.
In the evening before bed it’s a good idea to carefully examine the face for dry patches of skin. After washing the face these patches should then be treated with a cream specifically made for dry skin spots.
Then a night cream made for dry skin should be used in a light layer applied with the finger tips to the face. This cream should not be washed off until the morning. If dry facial skin continues to be a problem for several weeks without remedy or signs of a rash begin to show it might be a good idea to consult a dermatologist.
